Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour – 2015
G’day! My 2015 motorsport season has officially kicked off with the sensational Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour over the weekend. It was great to get back into the thick of the action again, especially at one of the most scenic race tracks in Australia, Mt Panorama.
Now before I get into a few of my favourite photos from the weekend, I’d just like to share a couple of links to pages/articles featuring my photos from the 12 hour. It would be great if you can go and check those out as well. There are a couple of good write ups at The Motor Report and MyDrive from the weekend, as well as a rather extensive gallery of my photos from the Formula Ford, Radicals and Improved Production racing over at the Bathurst 12 Hour Facebook page.

It was a good to spend 4 days out at Mt Panorama. Thursday was a pretty quiet one, with most of the teams still setting up. I took the opportunity to catch up with a few people and help out a couple of other photographers with their team photos. But didn’t take many of my own photos through out the day.
That all changed on Friday when on track action kicked off. I spent the vast majority of the day at the top of the mountain. With 4 hours of practice sessions for the 12 Hour cars, it was a great opportunity to get a variety of shots from different locations across the top. Here’s a selection of my favourite photos from Friday’s action.
For Saturday’s action I was focused on covering the support categories race starts and finishes, so I spent the day at the bottom of the mountain. I started the day at The Chase for the final 12 Hour practice session, before heading back towards pit straight for the support categories and the 12 Hour qualifying sessions.
Sunday was an incredibly early start. I was awake from 3am and I headed up straight up to the top of the mountain. With most of the photographers at Hell Corner to get the start of the race, I was one of the few photographers up the top of the mountain for the race start. I took the opportunity to play with some long exposures, getting some really cool shots. That was backed up with a sensational sunrise that made for plenty more great photos. There was about an hour window where the light was just fantastic, one of my favourite parts of photographing these long endurance races. Once the light started get a little less interesting, I moved around the track getting a variety of shots of the racing action. Here are a selection of my favourite photos from the race.
Now because I was helping out the Bathurst 12 Hour team with photos of the support categories, I’ve got a huge gallery of photos available. If there are any Formula Ford, Radicals or Improved Production competitors who are looking for photos from the event, feel free to get in touch if you’d like to purchase any photos. I’ll up date this post a link to a couple of galleries when I’ve finished sorting and uploading those photos, check back here in a couple of days.
Anyway that wraps up my favourite photos from the Bathurst 12 Hour for 2015.
