G’day Sports Fans! As I mentioned back in August I was keen to do some more work with the guys at GridIron NSW and capture some more American style football action. This weekend I had a gap in my motorsport schedule so I took the opportunity to head on up to Newcastle to catch a couple of games.
The games up in Newcastle were held at Charlestown’s St Johns Oval, which was quite an impressive facility. First up with the sun setting behind the grandstand was the Central Coast Sharks vs Sutherland Seahawks game. It was followed but the game under lights of the home team Newcastle Cobra’s vs Nepean Ducks. The setting sun made for some great lighting opportunities for the first game which was quite fun to shoot. While the second night game under ground lights was challenge, certainly a good test of my ability and my camera gear, however I did manage to walk away with a few shots I was happy with.
The guys at NSW GridIron will share some photos later on their website (gridironnsw.org.au) and possible on their Facebook page as well, but here a few of my favourite shots from the weekend. I’ve also included links to the full galleries if any one wanted to purchase some photos from themselves.

That’s it for this week. If you’ve spotted one of my photos you’ve really liked, make sure you get in touch with me if you’d like to use it, and also if you happen to be looking for a photographer to cover a sporting event. You can reach out to me on any of my social media profiles – Twitter, Facebook or Google+. You can also email me via my contact me page. Next few weeks should be quite busy with the Kings Park Hill Climb, Bathurst 1000 and World Time Attack but always nice to get some events locked in well in advance.
